For Lunar New Year we went back to where it all began…Langkawi! We worked out that the last time Sophe was here it was just before covid, 5 years ago. We went to Langkawi then and luckily we were able to go back this time with Tom, Alice, Ayla and Asraf. It was a nostalgic and reminiscent time with lots of conversation about how old we are now…
We stayed at the Virgo Star rooms next to Cenang. Whilst Cenang has gotten a little dirty and worse for wear over the past few years, it’s still the best base for a Langkawi trip. We revisited Fat Cupid, Red Tomato, Yellow Cafe and Pia’s Padi. The beach, which had a dry section to it in the summer, was back to normal with fire dances, bean bags and alcohol.
We were so lucky with the weather! Both Pantai Tengah and Tanjung Rhu have developed over the past few years, but for the better with sunbeds and food options. Tanjung Rhu remains my favourite beach in Langkawi.
The best thing about this trip was spending an extended time with friends and family. It really has been too long since we were together as a group and it’s so easy. We went to bed early, read lots of books and Ayla made firm friends with Tom and Alice!
It all went by too fast and I feel super lucky to have Langkawi on our doorstep again. Although it’s not the paradise islands of the East coast, it’s such an easy trip with lots of beautiful areas and glorious sunsets!
Here are some pics from our trip. Ayla can almost swim now!
